Big Mikes Monday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Monday, July 27th, 2009

All 4 Turbo Hughies landed on Sunday. Still remain extremely excited about the concept and feel as we have had such a good year on the Hughies then the Turbo format will be the format for the ensuing season starting 1st September.

There is a cracking bet at Galway tonight and really this one has to have a misfortune not to be placed. These bets come around maybe a dozen times a year so take advantage today. Older members will remember the ‘Golden Goose’. Well this is one and details of what to do can be found on the Forum (click ‘Forum’ tab then ‘Big Mikes Old Forum – then use the Search facility to see similar moneymaking bets.)

Just One ‘Live Blog Bet’ from me today.

A £12 Hughie (A place bet on the horse finishing in the places, 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place market)

£12 to place on Banyan Tree 620 Gal (What a cracking frame. IF 8 go to post then my faith in the prosperity for Irish Brown Envelope Manufacturers will recede. I cannot see 8 running but IF they do then the leg in the ew Double surely one of the bets of the year. Dermot Weld does extremely well here and the price on Stunning View reflects that but Mr O’Brien I am sure will have something to say with his Banyan Tree who doesn’t have to improve much to give the fav a shock.)pitching at 1.24

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

Big Mikes Thursday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

12 Hughies today on a day of overkill as far as the Racing Authorirties are concerned with 8 meetings & 50+ races. Mad isnt it? Yesterday only let down on the major Hughies by Wriggle so overall not a bad day.

Re Bookmakers accounts – please see Nicks posts on the Forum under the Learning Zone.

Touch wood – as I use them sparingly – I am still reasonably well in with bet365.com though of course that could change but their Video Service is now excellent and those who have not joined Racing Post for £199 per annum should look at this as an extra. Just click bet 365 ‘extra’ and you will be pleasantly surprised. Having given them a plug lets hope they keep me on.

There is a little Rugby League ‘Waring’ bet today with Ladbrokes and Stan James. I had to use some of my team of helpers to get on with the latter as I managed £3.70 with stanjames.com Pathetic people.

Do watch out for brown envelopes today as some reasonable frames out there………at the moment.

Just one ‘Live Blog Bet’ from me today:

A £12 Hughie (A place bet played via Betfair’s place markets on the horse finishing in the places i.e. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd)

£12 place only on The Tatling 405 Bath (Not much to add re this wonderful old battler. Should certainly be thereabouts but under the big weight might find one to beat him.) Pitching at 1.25

NB When pitching and I fail, I take the betfair price 5 mins pre off.

Big Mikes Monday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Monday, July 20th, 2009

G`day as could well be the greeting being used at Lords today.

Firstly my Gal Friday and chief blog administrator (Luan) is off on a Med cruise tomorrow, so the blog posts may be sporadic over the next couple of weeks, we intend to post when we can, however this will all be dependent on Luan getting internet access.

We are in a good position in the Test Match Trade but I have to say that I am not over confident. The pitch is looking serene, Clarke is batting superbly and Haddin is a tough cookie. After that we have the tail but Johnson is fighting for his Test place, Hauritz can bat and Siddle can hold an end up. Its far from over and I admit to being a bit nervous about the conclusion. We are too short at 1 to 2. This morning, Being cautious on the betting front I have now squared our position on the Trade. My position is :-

England +29
Australia +30
Draw +52

The best thing to do is start afresh and use the Lemming Method today. Akin to the `Fedora` where we lay the lowest priced selection (England in this instance) and place mines and pegs to catch the movements either way. Its the SAFEST way to play and I will do my best to be active on the Forum via the Chat Room today.

Racing again is very poor (with regard to both standard and frames) so again I am taking a step back and playing very cautiously.

`Hawkeye` again came up trumps with his beloved Hunslet via the Forum yesterday. Without inside information regarding team selection we are in a difficult position. However the upside is that when we HAVE that `inside` information we must use it to our best advantage. Please keep an eye out for future posts.

The Golf Portfolio managed to scrape a £21 loss for me but I see others fared better so in a way with a Play Off between Cink & Watson we have really got away very lightly. Overall very pleased with the scrambling method to reduce losses at Turnberry.

Just one ‘Live Blog Bet’ from me today:

A £12 Hughie (A place bet played via Betfair’s place markets on the horse finishing in the places i.e. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd)

£12 place only on Loch Long 610 Ball (Highly tried (Irish derby no less) and up against a weld fav here who has found it hard to win so far and has some headgear on today. Every chance.) Pitching at 1.40

NB When pitching and I fail, I take the betfair price 5 mins pre off.
