Big Mike’s Sunday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Big day for Sea The Stars & I hope the horse continues to emphasise the quality of his under rated Trainer who is deserving of all the riches coming his way. He also has some live interests elsewhere today as well.

Another bus squeezed into the Terminus last night as Mayberry landed our second double of the month at Fontwell. Wigan nearly beat Saints but still landed our Handicap bet so for a Saturday I was extremely content.

Just one Live Blog Bet from me today a £12 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£12 place only at Betfair SP – Sea The Stars 315 Longchamp (Nothing more to say about this horse!)

Big Mike’s Monday Thoughts

Monday, September 21st, 2009

It seems there are a few Man Utd fans in membership after some crowing from them after the goal in the 120th minute saved the Reds. I will certainly be getting my own back over the season and I will be talking to Omega about a new Fergie watch which amazingly loses 3 minutes every hour (only when Man U need a goal mind). Good goals by Bellamy weren`t they?

Racing gave us a double whammy. Firstly all those using my recommended Bookmaker b365 & others were paid out when Tayarat was first past the post in the 530 Plumpton. The horse was ludicrously thrown out having won by nigh on 2 lengths. Sure the horse jumped left at the last at it had done ALL the way around so why an experienced jockey like Richard Johnson tried it on up the inside still baffles me. Anyway we were paid out AND those of us in the Chatroom also LAID our winner at up to 1.25 for the very cheap Insurance. Very satisfying result and a lesson to many why its so important to be on the ball and also to take all necessary defensive measures to avoid pecuniary loss.

Wasnt it good to have NH back and 100% on all those Turbos under NH rules and hopefully bodes well for the season to come.

Its back to the Flat today and I am using a formula I have been involved with for 44 years. Before I qualified as a CA I was the Tea Boy at my firm and also Bookies Runner. The more experienced in our Office in Manchester had a huge Professional Gambler as a Major Client. He had several touches which I wont dwell on now but he also had a little system which I am using today as in effect the understanding behind the bet is still the same as it was back in 1965.

The following must apply :-

Race must be a Handicap between 8 & 13 runners.

Horse must have listed a Penalty earned within the last 21 days.

Trainer has placed the horse in a Non Penalty giving race if at all possible.

The Punter always backed each way (probably where I got it from) and he too always regarded the each way element as two separate bets (win and place) and as he lived until he was 98 maybe his successful punting life centred around the anti stress factor which I always try & achieve.

So whats the point of all this stuff this morning? Look at the Dunlop today.

Castleford landed our bet last night and as Wigan won our Outright Bet is still a Runner though Hunslet – even after scoring 30 points – failed to produce in their match.

There is an excellent article on Page 93 by Kevin Pullein in the Racing Post today. Please buy a copy today and photocopy as his words of wisdom basically cover my thoughts entirely. Normally I find his writing to be a

little complex but he gets the point over well today and maybe he has looked at my website as he certainly uses some similar language.

No ‘Live Blog Bet’s’ from me today.

Big Mike’s Thursday Evening Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

European Footie yet again tonight but very much Europeans answer to the Johnstone Paints Cup – Even the Mighty Citeh didnt even qualify for the Europa as the garrulous Mark Hughes plans to rule the world rather than just East Manchester. His next test of course is to find a striker fit enough to take on the Reds on Sunday which should be quite a game and hopefully we will have £100 at stake so I suppose it was one way of bribing errant members to follow the Blues this season. Having said that of course we are on them via the Handicap at the start of the season so lets hope we can land that 15/1 bet at least.

I believe this is the longest period in the year when no National Hunt meetings are held so if we can tread water this week I will be more than happy.

Just one Live Blog Bet from me today an £12 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£12 place only on Expressive 810 Wolves (Has been there and thereabouts on the AW whereas short priced fav has no experience here so worth looking at the alternative here with Sir Michael still in grand form.) pitching at 1.20

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses are taken out.

Big Mike’s Sunday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Better day all round on Saturday so feeling a bit perkier today. The Oxx Roast Combo Return of £150+ was the catalyst to my mood this morning after a poor week. The Turbos finished the week down by £124.67p so the Revised Bank there is £1875.33p. Mrs Marsland has ticked me off this morning so I will be studying even more over the coming week.

Fields look a bit better today.

Just one Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 place only on William’s Wishes 300 W (beaten by Hendo’s Erzen in the Spring when backed. Erzen then went on to complete a classy double so ability there with Williams Wishes. (FAV is useful but VERY short.) Pitched at 1.30

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses are taken out.

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.
