Big Mikes Sunday Thought’s

Each way doubles. Time and again I have stressed how mathematically the ew double is THE bet to make. Let me show you a simple calculation based on yesterdays eight selections. The ew double Combo of 28 x £1 ew doubles returned £51.64 at BOG with bet365.com. If you had played a ‘Goliath’ on the same eight to the same stake of £56 your return would have been just over £14. Hopefully this is a lesson on how to play certain bets.

Mick Peers enjoyed the result yesterday and Warrington’s hosteries made a stack last night but in Huddersfield apparently there was no trade. The bet landed and we were grateful to the Video ref giving David Hodgsons try near the death. Those who followed the Man of the Match dutch on the Forum also had a bonus. Well worth coming on down there for some extra jam on the cake. The jam isnt necessarily supplied by me either as we have many professional gamblers down there covering all kind of sports. You would be most welcome in the chatroom.

The Ali Baba landed nicely to return over £300 which compensated for the dull efforts in the DD & Dunlop. A very profitable Saturrday overall though which pleased me as I have said its the hardest day of the week for me generally.

Two more days for members to subscribe. If there are problems re transmission of paypal funds then just contact me and I will arrange another method or postponement of any fees until the members holiday has ended.

The column will go out to everyone as usual on Monday and Tuesday and then Luan will arrange the ‘cull’. I am delighted to tell you that we now have over 40 members taking up the ‘warranty’ plan (free column if I dont make the net profit requirement) but the warranty will expire at Midnight on August 31st.

Turbos. Again stakes saved by using the strategy. Really is an exciting development. Not much today but there will probably be a lot more action on Bank Holiday Monday.

Brown envelopes have already scuppered one double today so just 4 horses remaining. Play when it suits US not them has to be the watchword. Look at the 7 runner fields in Ireland today!

Big Mikes Saturday Thoughts

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Good morning. Rugby League Challenge Cup Final this afternoon and Warrington a ghost town this morning as 60,000 Wirepullers will be at Wembley. Many years ago I was Chairman of a Rugby League Club in the then Second Division. Trafford Borough. Our coach was Mick Peers and he held the post all the 5 years I was involved. Mick was in the Warrington squad when they last lifted the Trophy in 1974. The players in that team will be walking around Wembley today EXCEPT Mick. He lost a leg last year and the Wembley Authorities have refused the clubs request that Micks wheelchair be pushed behind the rest of the lads. So he will stay on the sidelines. There is something wrong in UK life isnt there when Millwall & West Ham ‘fans’ can cause mayhem yet a perfectly just cause is forbidden.

Anyway onto the game and I have posted my bets below. Trading I feel will be very good on the match market. I would NOT take a position at the start. Await the first try and then lay the side who scored it. I feel it will be a tight game so stay on the lay side so that the draw – which is quite possible – builds up throughout the match. Keep laying the side who score for a few quid and I feel you should have an excellent position come the final 15 minutes.

Just Cartmel for proper racing and the usual ‘your turn today’ Handicaps too close to call. I have found a few opportunities but remember Saturdays cards generally are the hardest of the week.

Yesterdays meeting at Big Mike Towers went very well and I can report as follows :-

Starsky – Will join the service on Tuesday with his regular column of excellent bets and lays. Those who have registered to be involved will be contacted by Luan shortly and this extra exclusive service starts on Tuesday. From what I gather we are FULL but please check with Luan today or tomorrow on luan7677@hotmail.com Having met Starsky yesterday I am extremely confident that his column will provide sufficient return for members involved to follow his own plans – to amass £5,000 per annum from 40 weeks work. £125 extra per week to pay for Holidays & Mortgage.

The Alchemist – Well all I can say – as a Trader myself – is that this is SO VERY EXCITING. The lad also starts on Tuesday and will have his own heading on the Forum. His brilliant strategy on Tennis is in effect quite simple and his problem is that by producing his stance before the game will indeed give the game away. We discussed long and hard how we should encompass the strategy within the Service and have come up with a plan which I trust is acceptable to the membership.

The strategy in short produces a 90% strike rate. The longest losing run is just 3 in hundreds of trades in 2008/9 so an ‘increasing’ staking plan would certainly be acceptable. The Alchemist will therefore post the match(es) he intends to trade for September and October in the Forum and then allow members to see the Betfair P & L account the following day.

I am opening a new Betfair account for this purpose. At the end of October what – presently – we propose to do is to accept members on a ‘bolt on basis’ like Starsky who will also lodge a Trading stake of £200 for the Alchemist to trade his stratgey in the future. I would be absolutely staggered if that £200 stake is not repaid to the member within 4 months so clever is the trade. The reason we are not seeking members for the trade from the start is indeed quite simple. The Alchemist must prove to me and the whole of the membership that the strategy works. The ensuing two months will make riveting reading for traders like me and others in the Service. VERY exciting stuff indeed. Starts on Tuesday.

The two lads will also step into my shoes when I have a few days off in the year. Yes I know – I can hear you – they will probably make a better fist of it than I do.

Brown envelope award. The Friday Plaque once again – surprise surprise – went to Alan Berry when his no hoper was withdrawn from the beautifully framed Claimer at Newcastle. Made no difference in the end as our horse was runner up but it still grates doesnt it?

Big Mikes Thursday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Well its been quite a week hasnt it? Following on from the big win on Tuesday the Combo on Thursday returned over £200 with 6 winning doubles including 48/1,37/1,26/1 plus a separate winning Combo double. Additionally The Kite lay fell to the ground again.

One of my members who has been with me 9 years emailed me this morning and his point is a good one. Maybe now the ‘silly season’ has ended (wall to wall racing) maybe the pressure is less intense and just maybe the thought process is more relaxed and beneficial for us all. Lets hope hes right as with National Hunt racing on the horizon I am extremely bullish about the year ahead (otherwise I would’nt have given that warranty would I?) Well thats my reaction anyway.

Betting as a living. Can it be done? Of course is the answer. I have had an email this morning from a fellow Accountant (we are not ALL boring you know) informing me that his meticulously kept records show that he has made over £3,300 profit in the year from 1st September 2008 to 31st August 2009 from my bets. He uses a mixture of bet types and increases stakes on the £8 and £12 Hughies otherwise he plays at stakes as shown. THE interesting point confirms my view that the NH produced far bigger returns than from the crafty boys on the Flat. His profit to the end of March 2009 was much bigger than the final amount. He suggests that maybe I should reduce stakes on the Flat. A fair point and I will look into that but the main thing his P & L account shows a whacking profit.

Good news. In fact excellent news. Along with Starsky and The Alchemist being heavily involved in the column/forum this next year – I have received Notification that the greatly admired ‘DEAN’ will be returning with a fresh bank starting on 1st September. His lays will continue on his site on the Column so all I wait now for is news from AndyG & Shaun to continue their Golf and Football thoughts respectively for the Forum.

Its looking quite a good package now for £69 a month isnt it? Others are charging more (not referring to the respected Mathematician here) with columns where they just place a few ‘tips’ and ‘lays’ which they could have picked with a pin. I have followed the results on one of these ‘The Perfect Punter’. Maybe he should change his name. Tepid stuff. An extract from todays email ‘Shame about yesterday with the bad weather arriving after I had sent the tips out.’ Oveh.

Tomorrows column will be SHORT. Just the suggestions and little spiel. I have an important meeting up here at the Farm with my team in readiness for the New Season where I am planning (with help) to produce a column virtually every day – so I will need outside help to perform this task from other members in the team.

I will be in the Chatroom this afternoon and if a further Hughie/Turbo turns up – or trade – (as did yesterday) I will put up for members as well.

One Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 Place only on Rakaan 3.50 Ling untried on going, big drop in class, blinkers. Trainer in cracking form at present and ok here. Looks like a ploy to get head in front and really ought to win this but has to be a place only bet. Pitching at 1.3

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

Big Mikes Wednesday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

SO close to a record 509/1 double yesterday. I always say ‘expect the unexpected’ and so it proved as Desert Soul was backed down to 1.8 in running. One thing amazed me. NO brown envelopes up there and the frame remained a ‘belter’ for us.

The column went to over 300 people yesterday. If say 60 had followed the bet via bet365.com using Best Odds Guaranteed then that firm would have been looking at a liability of over £100,000 and even worse many members would have had their accounts closed. So the lesson is still to spread the bets about a bit – change your User names as well as remember if you use the same User at each bookmaker it is not difficult for the rogues to access your ‘History’.

One of my members has informed me that he has had the big red ‘closure’ from vcbet.com even though he has been only betting there since BOG was introduced by that firm. Another lesson to spread the bets about. They dont want this crafty betting at all – only kids, gamblers and slot players. So take remedial action.

Hughie Warranty. I was asked by a long standing member who just plays the Hughies if I would extend the Turbo Warranty to Quarterly payers. I am happy to do so and therefore will ask Luan to make the necessary amendmentst to the Service notes. So in short the Hughie Warranty is extended now to BOTH Quarterly & Annual membership. IF the Turbos/Hughies dont cover the subscription cost for the relevant period then the following period – whether quarterly or annual will be FREE. I cant do the Monthly Warranty though as its not realistic for me as I will be taking time off during some of the months. I dont think you will find a Warranty like that with any other service. I believe that I have been more than fair with this offer. Mr & Mrs Marsland will be looking for a new home in September 2010 unless these bets perform! I do hope to have the last laugh though!

Another very hard day in terms of trappy racing so again very little from me. I am playing an expansive combo which may produce as they contain a number of noted horses. Small stakes ONLY please.

One Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 Place only on Spiders Star 320 Cat (Great efforts this term and trainer doing very well with his small string. Will be the one to beat as generally so consistent.) Pitching at 1.40

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

Big Mikes Saturday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

BREAKING NEWS. VERY exciting stuff indeed.

Starsky has penned notes on the Forum for some time and the good news is that he is now joining the BM service from 1st September as a ‘bolt on’ extra within the service. He will be arranging for his own Starsky column DAILY which will be sent out by my girl Friday Luan.

She will be sending out details later but the service will be strictly limited to just 20 or so members on an additional monthly sub basis of £29.99. In effect BMB will be rewarding Starsky via this extra sub for his efforts. The Starsky ‘Bolt On’ will be available to full paying 2009/10 members ONLY but on a severely restricted first come first served basis Luan will email more details later today.

Stirring stuff indeed. Hope to be in the Chatroom as soon as possible if interested in following the Test Match. May also do some Horse Trading if time. Get down there if you can as I hate talking to myself.

Terrific day for the membership on Friday with doubles at 27/1, 25/1, 14/1 etc and IF Raines Cross had deigned to place instead of finishing 4th the £150+ return on the Combo would have been over £1000. Such is life but it shows that even in this very hard month for punters we can still conjure up some profits.

One astute member in the Chatroom played a yankee on the first four selections and picked up £390. He also followed it up with my Huddersfield Rugby bet suggestion last night. So well pleased for him and as he said – he has nearly paid his subs for next year. I like members like that LOL.

The only problem he has is that he supports Spurs but when the BIG Manchester club visit them later in the season he may have to change his allegiance! The smell of money at Middle Eastlands is such that even the Cleaners are having elocution lessons. These are absolutely crazy times for we very long suffering Citeh fans. Citeh being Citeh would be an automatic lay against Wolves today!

OK – now the Test Match. I have squared the trades again and started afresh and the moves will be in the Chatroom today.

The lays. To keep updating the RP selections is a big task so I am abandoning it from today. I think we are talking about a tiny loss overall of between £1 and £10 in the three weeks. HOWEVER the Kite is easier to operate for me as we are talking about ONE selection and generally that is VERY short and thus very profitable when losing so I will continue with this lay each day. Immense profits so far. There is one today.

A few which interest me today so playing ‘The Dirty Dozen’ Combination bet instead of the Buzzer/Bernie.

Shaunee. I havent heard from Shaun just yet but if he is posting his FOOTBALL speciality bet it will be on the Forum.

One Live Blog Bet from me today an £4 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£4 to place on Waveband 220 Rip (Best form on offer here and still improving. Tamseem hasnt beaten much home yet but still a threat but every chance here with the Mark Johnston horse.) Pitching at 1.38

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.
