Big Mikes Friday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Friday, August 21st, 2009

The new season is fast approaching and I will be sending out terms in the next few days. Luan – bless her – will be looking after all the admin but always email if you are encountering problems. As you know I am offering a warranty on all Hughies & Turbos which will pay for the annual sub or – I will then send the 2010/11 column for the year for FREE. I cany afford to do that so it should be a good year!

Prices have not altered as the new Server can accommodate more members and on top of that I am also allowing Members who have been with the Service for over 12 months a loyalty bonus of £100 or £10 per month. Annual payers can revert to Monthly subs BUT they will not enjoy the warranty I have posted above.

Rugby League. Not many joined in last night on the live trade. Cracking game and the teams read the script with the score in favour of the teams playing down the slope was something like 50-10. Trading was eclectic and one of my members netted £50 plus as well as landing the original bet as well. Great stuff and pleased for those who joined in. Sports Trading IS the way to go.

More cheating in Horse Racing and sadly one of the yards close to me was involved. Corrybrough 425 Ling was 1.33 on the place (correct price) 12 minutes pre race. The horse was 1.67 just before the off! What does that tell you? The horse looked in a good position 2 furlongs out but then O’Neills magic hands managed a place well down the field.

The horse was not 100% I admit (as expected) but I didnt expect the blatant cheating pre race. I apologise to all have followed this yard for many years and I am deeply saddened. Candy has a live hope at York today but cannot for the life of me put up as an ew bet even though the horse is strongly fancied. What a let down. Corrybrough will go onto better things this season – mark my words.

One Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 to place on Expressive 845 Wolv (Falbrav filly & Goes well for this lad and given an easy debut here back in May. I’m uncertain of what Prescotts plans are and
I view that as apossible ‘Shyster’ bet if he so wants.) pitched at 1.35

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

Big Mikes Friday Thoughts and Live Blog Bets

Friday, August 14th, 2009

A deep joy day on Thursday and so very close to the big one with Ermine & Velvet being backed to 151 in running. Even so the Buzzer produced a Bet365 Best Odds Guaranteed return of £275+. In addition the Ali Baba double returned £304. All Hughies won so ‘weve had worse days’ at the office.

It worked out a 26/1 double and special praise to Fran Berry who put another Reminder note on the wall for Mr Oxx.

I have been playing a ‘Stealers Wheel’ bet in ‘bad ew’ races (Bookmakers terminology) for some time – quite successfully so now worth an airing. It will be very good to use in the Winter especially in nicely framed ew Novice Chases where the fav is long odds on and fallible. One today to test the water in a Flat race but always no bet if a NR. We need 2nd & 3rd spots. Good opportunity for laying as well in these races.

Widnes failed to turn up and Barrow gained easy revenge.

Test match at The Oval. Any member out there who can help me with tickets for my daughter & pals for any day bar the last? She needs 5. Would be grateful for any help.

7 meetings today so nigh on 50 races – many bets.

So Two Live Blog Bet’s from me today

Two £8 Hughies. (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 place only on Obe Gold 755 Cat (Hope to turn over Tournedos here (pardon the barbeque pun) but the fav is very quirky but a different class if on a going day. Ex Dandy Nicholls horse and very consistent at this level & this yard likes a tilt so watch the market.) pitching at 1.32

AND

£8 place only on Richo 320 Newc (Now demoted to Selliong company after a reasonable effort in a Class 4 at Haydock in June. Obviously regressive but should be near enough today in this company.) pitching at 1.32

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

Big Mike’s Thursday Thoughts

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

8 meetings today but only Stratford over here for National Hunt enthusiasts. The best bet may well be in the Rugby League tonight.

Hit the post yesterday and really it was a Double Diamond which got away. I know we did OK hedging down to 1.25 but really it was a race we should have won.

I try & hit the 75% consistently with the Hughies so 4/6 was below par so I think maybe a little ‘Comments’ heading should appear now and again. Done a little one today. Mrs Dunnett pulled one off at Yarmouth yesterday. Good for her.

COMMENTS ON PERFORMERS

Bet Moody Tunes 730 Ham (Poor effort and way too far back even in this company to get involved.)

Big Mike’s Wednesday Thoughts

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Good afternoon. Bit more of interest today but still very wary.

The results overall across the country yesterday (6 winners of 12/1-20/1 range) showed just how trappy it was and all I can do is to confirm again that statistically August is very difficult – always has been and probably always will be – as apart from the Ebor Meeting there is little quality racing about and some of these Maidens we are seeing have been at it for 5 months.

Add Trainer Plotting into the mix and you can see why its not very simple to craft ones way out of it. The frames are key but the layers are wise to it as was shown with the very late withdrawal yesterday at Newton Abbot. ‘Unsuitable ground’ was given as the lame excuse. However the ground was little different 6 hours earlier and one can only assume that Jimmy Frost went home a very contended & wealthy man. Just think to yourselves how much extra goes into Bookmaker pensions when two are paid out instead of three in a race. We are talking a lot of money indeed and of course nobody
does a thing about it (except Betfair!). A racket which needs News of the World exposure until it gets any better for the punter.

I mentioned that the new Big Mike Season starts 1st September 2009 and from feedback I have decided to offer 3 different columns. One for Sports, One for just the Turbos & Hughies and one which encompasses everything. Annual payers will have built in FREE ensuing columns IF targets are not met. It’s the only way to be fair to everyone. We are set productivity targets at work so I should have to fulfil them as well. Simple as that and I am willing to do so.

Pricing. We are talking currently as follows :-

a) Sports – £29 per month/£290 Annual.
b) Turbos & Hughies – £49 per month/£490 Annual
c) Full Service – £69 per month/£189 quarterly/£690 Annual

Forum/Chatroom – Obviously limited access for those taking option a & b.

The FREE offer applies to all those who take the Annual subscription ONLY and as usual there will be discounts for those who have been with me over 12 months. Paypal available as usual.

More news later re the ‘New Year’.

Just one Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 place only on Moody Tunes 730 Ham (Goes well for this lad and now at the right level. Cant see beyond the front three here and could be a tussle but this one should get first run and again the Turbo method could well be useful if unexpectedly fading. However for the purposes of the blog bet’s we are playing this as a straight backed place bet.) pitching at 1.42

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

Big Mikes Tuesday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Very quiet today. Little of interest at all.

As they say you can’t make it as a tailor without the material Quite opportune today so it’s a period to be patient and not get involved with some of these ludicrous Maiden Handicaps, Class 6 ‘Your turn today’ stuff, 4 runner fields etc. We have a jumps meet at Newton Abbot where there may be an opportunity or two there but I feel the layers will come in with brown envelopes to wreck the superb looking 445 frame though.

Be careful today. VERY trappy. None of the 3 main bets advised.

The new Big Mike Season starts 1st September 2009 and I will lead up to that date with certain changes which will be made.

In simple terms as we are still in the Credit Crunch all prices have been frozen.

I think the new site has been absolutely tremendous and I cant think of another service now offering the depth of assistance given to members as I try to do. I am indebted to the likes of Starsky, Dean, Andy, Shaun, Nick and others for their input. For 2009/10 by the way I have more help in areas where I am weak and I will be announcing the arrival of a Tennis Betting & Trading specialist shortly.

There will be three levels of membership and I will enlarge on that in the weeks to come but at this stage I am planning a Hughie Only membership, a Sports Bets Only membership and of course a full service which will incorporate everything. All you need to make a profit from betting.

So just one small Live Blog Bet from me today a £4 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£4 place only on Soviet Sceptre 215 NA (A Seller and a poor one too and many mules in the field. Safest option in my view is to go with Horses for Courses and this one trained by the mercurial Tim Vaughan just about fits the bill.) pitched at 1.66

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.
