Sports bets were OK but Racing bets were insipid over the weekend and a good reason to have a divergence of bets when its tricky as I have warned just now. Hopefully you managed stake retrieval on Nina’s mount as the Mullins Bumper machine continued unabated. What I did for hedging purposes was to Dutch the front four without Bacher Boy. I think whichever way you decided to hedge showed the importance of being a ‘reverse bookmaker’ as they of course would have done the same thing. Never risk losing the lot.
The Rugby League bet completed a good weekend in the sport and I do know many members piled in when Sean Long failed his fitness test on his broken jaw. How you do that God only knows. A new one on me. Nice to see 2 ‘unfashionable’ sides at Wembley as new spectators and supporters will be attracted that way.
The Turbo saved the place bet on Buck Mulligan (very, very poor ride by Ruby and would have been stood down in GB if he had had the gall to employ the same tactics over here) but the other two never reached a challenging position.
In the Test Australia completed a facile victory and our position now can be hedged at The Oval if required BUT I will still be trading the Test as it’s the most important these lads will be facing for years. If picked Messrs Harmison, Collingwood, Bell etc will be playing for their Test futures whereas Messrs Broad, Onions & Bopara face particular vicious scrutiny. Fred HAS to play for England to have the remotest chance and as it’s a One Test Series I would bring in Ramps & also the Yorkshire leg spinner. Of course changes won’t be made by the establishment as its not ‘done’ is it? We really should change our focus.
Today sees the start of the All Weather Season. Of course not officially but as far as I am concerned it does. The two afternoon ‘Headline’ meetings are both AW – typical planning of course. Newcomers to Racing (yes I have quite a few I am pleased to say, as hopefully they will be playing with other peoples money shortly (for ever as well) should remember also that the form at Southwell in particular is SO different to any other AW meeting. Please always remember that fact. Very important.
Not much in the way of crafty betting today even though I have a blog bet for you.
Just One Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)
£8 place only on Bonheurs Art 6.20 Wind (Fav has been well touted but Mr Hughes is on board so we have a chance with this one – given a very soft ride by this jock at Goodwood and as usual there should be more to come tonight.) pitching at 1.26
Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best. Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out
