Sunday, February 14th, 2010Members following my betting strategy will be having a good time currently betting on horse racing as if ‘ours’ don’t place we are catching them with very low in running lays. It really is so important to take a defensive stance when betting on horses.
Always hedge for stake retrieval and stay in business. I have always said betting on sports is a business and gambling is for idiots and I see no reason to alter this long-term view.
Sports betting strategically IS the way forward without doubt.
So why am I reminding you that we are following the correct route?
Well, look at today’s Racing Post – ‘The Ultimate Guide for Betting’ - oveh – there is a newish writer – Graeme Rodway – Page 12 – today, offering 2 horses in an each way double.
Good grief I thought at last a bit of commercial common sense. I then looked at his selections foolishly thinking he was following a mathematical line like we do. He has 2 each way selections in 15 runner Handicaps!!!!!!.
15 runner Handicaps are mathematically the daftest races you should be betting in and to suggest an each way double in those races is begging for a P45. It is irrelevant whether the 2 horses he selected will win or not. They could well do but it’s the CONCEPT, which is wrong. Pass me the pills nurse.
Well it is Sunday and I suppose my sermon will be skipped by most of you but I can assure you all that strategic betting is the way forward. Patience comes second.
Denman provided the excitement on Saturday and my ethos of ‘expect the unexpected’ again came into play. No wonder I have decided to take a little profit on Dunguib at Cheltenham. Sure he’s a fine horse and maybe will become a ‘great’ one, but he’s now doing it with other peoples money. I’m always happy to take a little less profit in return for safety in this turbulent game. On that subject Paddy Power have a new bet where you can take out ‘insurance’ should your horse fall in some races. Excellent stuff.

Wonderful finish in Cardiff and the 1.01 available on Betfair again proved very lucrative for traders.
Warrington pulled off the win at Castleford and Richie Myler proved what a great finisher he is and I think we have a good bet there for top try scorer as he’s a ‘sniffer’ and always in the right place at the right time and his big provider of tries – Solomona – wasn’t even playing last night!
Citeh excited nobody again yesterday and they replay again on Tuesday.

There is a lot more to betting than just Horse Racing and we have had a super season so far with the sports bets so try & use a bit of your betting bank for sports bets as I feel it would be money wisely put aside.
Currently I am reproducing some interesting stats re the Rugby Union bets I play relating to fewer tries in each match this season which will suit us fine as far as a defensive protection is concerned.
Please don’t gamble when there is no need and protection can be offered in a bet. Always try new tactics for stake recovery.
The days when you just make a bet for the sake of it are long gone. Often you should use all the mechanics available to protect your stake more.

Monday, October 5th, 2009Sea The Stars showed what a wonderful horse he is and certainly the best Ive seen for thirty years plus. Let him have a tilt in the USA – he has several years of deep joy ahead of him with hundreds of women and he will be paid as well. Now THAT is a job worth earning. I guess his value now must be £40 million or so and no doubt his owner will have him well insured. Great horse.
We had a great day too and thanks for the emails which after a generally lean spell were gratefully received. I worry when I dont hear from you so it was good to see an Inbox of quality rather than spam.
A quieter week awaits – or indeed fortnight so please keep the Forum busy in my absence there. I will be in and out of the Chatroom but not for long spells.
Final of the ICC Cricket today and time to green up on our Australia bet. Just leave the profit on Australia and 0 on NZ so its a no loss situation.
Citeh play at Villa tonight but I wont be playing the Redknapp this time! Should be entertaining mind.

Sunday, October 4th, 2009Big day for Sea The Stars & I hope the horse continues to emphasise the quality of his under rated Trainer who is deserving of all the riches coming his way. He also has some live interests elsewhere today as well.
Another bus squeezed into the Terminus last night as Mayberry landed our second double of the month at Fontwell. Wigan nearly beat Saints but still landed our Handicap bet so for a Saturday I was extremely content.
