Not an easy days racing today, where for me the stand out bet is over the sticks, and I for one will be pleased when the National Hunt season really springs into action. Talking of which, has anyone else noticed the very small fields for young chasers?? We don’t appear to have any up and coming “stars” over here, whereas in Ireland the seems be be a real depth in the chasing talent…….time will tell.
Once again yesterday the strategy for laying “mines” repaid in buckets, when the second selection in the Ali Baba was backed down to very low odds when finishing second (the 1st leg having won at 3/1), to return a nice place double, and recovering stakes. I know I keep banging on about this, and I know it’s not very exciting sometimes, but the satisfaction you get when seeing your bank slowly but surely getting bigger and bigger, more than makes up for that lack of adrenalin rush…….and you don’t have that dark cloud over you when your money is lost!!

Nice to see another Each Way Double Bus arrive in the Big Mike Terminus yesterday at Newmarket after a peach of a Ryan Moore ride. Top class. `Tis a funny old game – my two other `fancied` horses were the only 2 to let me down in the Rambo. Hard to come to terms with what goes on sometimes.
All kinds of Betfair offers today (hate the Paul Nicholls pics – looks like he`s just seen a ghost – maybe he has – the Ghost of `Twister` past. `Twister` loves Cheltenham and beating the `Hoi Polloi`- again yesterday he found a 49/1 double for us and I`m having another crack today including a dark `un he has in the Cesarewitch.
All eyes no doubt on Frankel but not carrying my money at the current price.
The England RL team came up with just a draw against the Maoris but now the hardrer games are on the horizon against the Aussies & Kiwis. Tomkins again looked in a class of his own.

Well it certainly put a smile on this columnists face – just for the record the bet given on Sunday was as follows:

6 X £5 ew Doubles, 4 X £3 ew Trebles & £3 ew acca
Luisant 14:45 Curragh 3/1
Celtic Sixpence 15:45 Goodwood 10/3
Nadinska 16:45 Bath 5/2
Youralltalk 17:40 Ffos Las 11/4
All four horses in the combination duly won at Best Odds Guaranteed Odds of 3/1, 10/3, 5/2 and 11/4 (NR’s Rule 4 deduction applied, reducing the odds on Youralltalk to 5/4).
Total profit to the very affordable stakes above was £1346.14 and even after the requisite protective hedges; most followers cleared over £1000!
Remember days like that WILL happen with combination betting and without doubt I feel we are really on the right road in playing bets this way as it gives you the best of both worlds – BIG wins and hedging opportunities.
