Big Mikes Tuesday Column
(Just in from a Sunderland member) – `You can get a reasonable 3 Bedroomed House in the Newcastle area for £36,000. Is Carroll really worth 1000 houses?` Here we go. Thought Id pass it on to the many Toon members on here. Personally from a club nearly bankrupt a couple of years ago the deal is a good one but I understand the emotions of the fans – but bills have to be paid and Ashley no doubt wants some moolah. Lets be fair – its a heck of a price though.
Whelan on the other hand must be mad. Turning down £12 million. For that he could buy every Blue Square Premiership player and probably every club as well.

Good morning all, well both NH meetings abandoned so just the two all weather meetings and in truth very little there to inspire me. I will come back to racing in a minute, but first of all a mention about the Cricket.
I don’t know how many other services give you the breadth of betting that Big Mike Betting provides, but really what could be easier the logging onto Betfair, putting a few bets in the keep, going to bed, and waking up in the morning to find you have doubled your money!!

Firstly thanks to Tetley over at my main site for another excellent column yesterday and his insight to the latest from the markets.
Remember its vital to check prices near the off as connections are playing Betfair very cleverly with so many `phantom` gambles. A gamble in the morning for instance is used as a `staircase` for connections to use their Exchange accounts and imply the horse is fancied.
Quite regularly you will find these `gambles` are just the opposite and its a means for those close to the action to lay their horses at very low levels. It does go on and seems to be an increasing problem.
Take care when backing a horse for instance which has doubled from its morning summit laying price.

Brown envelopes? Is this a myth or fact? Whatever it is – they exist and to put things in a monetary example yesterday over at my paid for service we had 4 in a Yankee which gave a 1p profit whereas if 8 had run in the 1.45 the profit would have been £35. So what happens to the £34.99? Two guesses. I will bleat no more but we may consider going down the `Bottler` route. Last year – due to the spate of brown envelopes and Bookies running for cover I played the bets only via Betfair in order to receive the vital 3 spots. There may be days ahead when I will do so.
A nice double yesterday on the blog (I thought prices were generous for once) and not a winner in sight – Strategic Betting in action!

A few hardy Trainers keeping the whole Racing Industry going currently. People like David Evans, Mark Brisbourne etc really put the hours in so that at least there is something on the Betting Menu.
Yesterday I used for the first time for a long time Fergal Sweeney. You may remember (those who have been with for many years) the reasons why I bypassed his mounts. In short he used to ride for `our` horse when with Michael Blanshard and pre race there were very odd movements on the Betting Exchanges and the mount finished an unexpected 4th. Safe to say we never used him again. Yesterday he rode the `Banker` in the Trixie and………………….by a neck finished fourth and his ride is there for all to see on bet365.com using the `Extra` button to view. My fault for using him really and for that I apologise but even so those of you sensibly using the `mines` will have obtained stake retrieval on the bet.
