All disciplines show a profit which I have to be totally honest and say is a FIRST for me over the past decade where EVERY discipline is in profit. Maybe I am still putting to good use the little things picked up each day (I will come to that later) via the Exchanges and gradually producing what could be the blue print for betting in the future. In other words – keep reducing the downside!

Very little to excite on Friday when I went half stakes and I am maintaining similar levels today on an extremely trappy day.
Anyone wanting to have an each way double in the Ayr Silver & Gold Cups (52 run) please send me a cheque for £10,000 and give up betting completely. I can assure you that you will save thousands over the years with that offer.
Today on the blog I have come up with several football bets for you.(see below)
A big welcome to the 100+ triallists joining for the free trial. Email Luan at membership@bigmikebetting.co.uk if interested and she will accommodate.
With Pope Benedict XVI continuing his visit to blighty, I felt compelled today to deliver my very own Big Mike Saturday Morning Mass.
The aim of this columnist is obviously to PROFIT –by providing the winning bet which strange as it seems may not necessarily be the winner of an event. I look at things from a mathematical stance in the hope always of limiting losses. I generally provide place bets and combination bets (mainly each way doubles) as they are THE bet which is abhorred by the Bookmakers. How many times have you seen a sign in your local shop offering special terms on each way doubles? The answer will be never as mathematically they favour the punter arithmetically. Two 5/2 shots placing will provide a profit (a winning bet without actually backing a winner) and also give you solace as well.

Tetley was unlucky yesterday. (Tetley guests for me when I have a day off!)
Having correctly read the markets by the time the column was sent the first horse then drifted alarmingly on Betfair to finish stone cold last. Marcus Tregoning. This was another example of a `phantom gamble` where connections use their own accounts to produce a gamble simply by matching each other during the morning only to let the horse drift pre race to bet back and collect. There is nothing better of course than to have your own horse to manipulate the markets. The Pakistani cricketers have absolutely nothing on the wily characters on Betfair.

My Independent Assessor sent me the figures through yesterday after the first week of the season. We are over £2700 up to my stakes in that period. Please do not expect the same every week! Sure we have bettered it over the years but its very pleasing for me to reward members who have paid their subs in this way!

Big Mikes Monday Thoughts
I have been getting quite a lot of interest from people concerning my ‘Hughie’ ‘place bets’ which are played via betfair’s place only markets.
As with all forms of betting we will see dips – highs and lows always expected like the weather – but overall you will do well by following them and as a consequence enjoy your racing more knowing only third spot is required.
Here are the figures until the end of May 2009. Based only on a bank of £400 as well.
To
Oct 1 + 77.63
Nov 1 +129.90
Dec 1 + 14.34
Jan 1 +179.83
Feb 1 +116.37
Mar 1 +169.58
Apr 1 – 3.62
May 1 + 13.81
Jun 1 + 77.78
I really believe that place betting is the way to go as it takes a lot of your gambling instincts away, which to me is most important. You can’t win as a gambler.
You can win by betting. Two poor months – April and June (so far) but over the long run a sound proposition.
Middle of June – Height of Midsummer – of course the planners have us down for 2 x All Weather Meetings this afternoon. Where do we get these people from? Maybe the Back Benches of the Commons.
Yesterdays Awesome was just that with a £135 return at SP. It just shows by finding the right race with outsiders just placing what can be achieved. We must continue thinking outside the circle and to expect the unexpected.
Mike
