A quiet day for me after yesterdays marvellous exertions.
No doubt a few more `account closed` mails to members but isnt that so unfair? The 4 races selected were NOT in `each way thieves` races and we still overcame 2 sets of brown envelopes from the layers. By the way those people who think its natural that these events occur when Non Runners appear in 8 runner races should really think again.
Thanks very much for the emails. Really appreciate them and it gives me an insight on how you all bet as well. For instance I had the statutory mail from my old Pensioner Member who has been with me for many years. He bets to 10% of his bank on each discipline (unlike my request for 5%!) – and he had a £15 ew yankee & £15 ew acca on the 4 yesterday (£360 staked) and his return was £7155. I have pleaded with him to reduce his staking to 5% in future as to be honest its getting a bit out of hand. We have to prepare for barren times which will surely come.

Sad to see in a way the fall of Taylor as when a player refuses an interview after losing does not show a good all round sportsmanship game does it? Maybe Lewis will see the backlash tonight but in any event members should green up equally on Wade & Lewis via the outright and then play the match in running as a separate bet.
Mediocre day on Saturday and the Dunlop showed that you dont always need the winner – its the winning bet which counts. The McCain Bumper horse will surely recoup losses next time. Keep it on your side.

Well yesterday was better wasnt it? Hopefully gung ho gamblers in the service will still have had a few bob on the successful Ali Baba after a poor few days. They may be `gung ho` currently but hopefully in a few months I hope they become boring punters like many of the members. More fun having other peoples money available to bet with though.
The Darts acca also produced a nice return and we must keep using these extra opportunities for long term Financial health but tonight its a different play on the `arrers`.
Good innit as Emma Thompson would say.

Ryder Cup remains riveting viewing with some amazing swings in the Individual matches for traders. Could it be `Sir` Colin Montgomerie? Sports Personality of the Year? Should they of course hang on.
Yesterdays ‘Dunlop’ (each way double) and how I played it. I just want to ensure that we are all singing from the same Hymn Sheet. The first horse in the double won so we trousered a profit of £60. We also had a double `live`. I worked out the potential return on a winning double which was £340. Similarly on the place part should the horse finish in the frame – this amounted to £40. So there was ample room for me to place lay for stake retrieval pre start so I place laid £25 gross (liability £18). I then placed mines at 1.4 and 1.2 for a further £25 gross but these failed to match. On the win site I must admit to being over optimistic and laid just a fiver gross (Liability £17). Poor risk management from yours truly and no way to safeguard such a huge lump (£340). I point this out for two reasons. You MUST play the combination lays and mines on the place site to keep retaining stakes and secondly be more adventurous than I was on the win site next time! Just thought I would share with you how I cock up from time to time! Dunces Hat for me on Sunday.
