HALF TERM REPORT
Many new members in the Service so a good time to go over a few points.
My season runs from 1st September until 31st August, so we are approximately half way through the term.

So far so good and my challenge now for the next 6 months is to keep as much of that profit as possible and do my best to hit the magic £10,000.
The KEY thing to remember in this service is that there will be times when I cannot buy a winning bet. The betting banks cater for that situation PROVIDING you stick most rigidly to the maximum bet 5% rule.
Many newbies join me expecting quick riches. They won`t see that in this service. I am pretty boring when it comes to selections as I go for `steady eddie` bets which will build betting banks slowly. Just my approach but I don’t think statistically it’s a bad way to go is it?
So if you are a `newbie` stick with it – build patiently – and once you have built up betting banks in all the disciplines and are playing with OPIUM (Other Peoples Money) you will find losing days/weeks much easier to bear.
Meanwhile a mate of yours will have backed a 25/1 winner in a Gluesniffing 20 runner Handicap at Doncaster BUT will have blown his winnings by 5.30 pm that afternoon. Such is the trait of the Gambler (99.5% of Gamblers lose) so become a `Boring Strategic Bettor` which will give you more fun and a longer life. He will just tell you about the 25/1 winner though and conveniently forget about the other betting slips in his pocket.
If you have any queries at all about my approach then always join me (I float around – sometimes there – sometimes not – but will catch up during the afternoon – in the Forum Chatroom) or email me at mike@bigmikebetting.co.uk and I will do my best to answer.
If you want copies of the Independently produced spreadsheets to show your Bank Manager for an overdraft (only kidding) then email me as above and I will forward. I also have Sport spreadsheets compiled by another Independent (Tight Scot) Compiler for the last 2 months as well and these should also be available monthly as well in the future.
Mike.
One thing I can tell you is that this season (Started 1st September 2010 – 20th February 2011) my NET profits are now over £7000. I don’t deal in fantasy or selective figures etc – I only tell you what my INDEPENDENT assessor tells me.
I am very chuffed not only to be so far in front but also very pleased for my many members, who can now afford more luxury in their life actually paid for by the greedy Bookmakers.
In short here are the latest figures :-

All of the above horse racing bets and trades show a profit, which I have to be totally honest and say is a FIRST for me over the past decade where EVERY discipline is in profit. Maybe I am still putting to good use the little things picked up each day (I will come to that later) via the Exchanges and gradually producing what could be the blue print for betting in the future. In other words – keep reducing the downside!
So whats the plan? We`ve still 9+ months to go. So it may surprise you to know that I will continue on the defensive path we have followed and if we can manage to hit a net £10,000 profit by the end of August I really would feel that I will have done my job.
Stakes for the Double Diamond will be altered, Dunlop & Ali Baba will be maintained and I may just tinker a little with stakes on the BMB, Combo & Rambo bets. What we have made I intend not only to hold but build up on.
I am therefore making the following changes to staking bearing in mind my insistence that the MAXIMUM bet you have is 5% of betting bank in any discipline.
Double Diamond – original bank was £2,400 – Profit to date is £2174 – Total Bank is now £4574 so taking away Original Bank of £2400 leaving a New Bank of `Other Peoples Money` or `Opium` of £2174. Rounding up to £2200 will mean a new DD stake of a maximum of £110.
Dunlop – original bank was £1,300 – Profit to date is £1588 – Total Bank is now £2888 so taking away the PROFIT of £1588 leaving the Original Bank of £1300 but it is all `Other Peoples Money` or `Opium`.
Ali Baba – original bank was £800 – Profit to date is £393 – Total Bank is now £1193 so taking away the PROFIT of £393 leaving the Original Bank of £800. In your mindset nigh on half of the new bank is `Other Peoples Money` or `Opium`.
Buzzer (£800), Hughies (£1000), Bernie (£1200), Rambo (£1200), Combo (£1200), BMB (£1000) to have the same betting bank limits but again remember that there is a vast amount of `Opium` there within the existing bank.
Its a good time to rearrange limits and take profits and a sensible strategy. Remember banks can be `actual` or `memorandum` but MUST be strictly adhered to. Its the only way to WIN.
Now – one thing I learned yesterday was that Tony McCoy maybe has joined the `Ridden for Connections Club`. His ride on Ragdollianna was very disappointing. Sure there may well be mitigating circumstances so that`s why I applied the word `maybe` to the finest jockey of all time. However to be caught on the line was very upsetting for many people. I have received many, many emails on the subject but as I was not in the office until later I didnt hear any studio comments so I will still sit on the fence. However I will be watching things closely in future.
From a mathematical point of view ‘Ragdollianna’ was what we describe as a `Golden Goose`. A horse which could be backed at more than twice the place odds via SP so that connections could lay more than double their place stake back to Betfair at a profit. Indeed the horse traded lower than 1.05 in running so there was even more petrol in the tank.
Many members may well be surprised at my forthright approach here but I can see these anomalies/smoke signals every day on the exchanges. Connections or those close to the yards have an `Open Sesame` to the Betfair `Safe`. Mischievous acts DO go on – so please no Crocodile tears – and quite honestly Racing really does have to clean its act up.
Which brings me to…………………………yes you`ve guessed it – Brown Envelopes. Sure its an old Hobby Horse of mine, but can we sit back and let these horrendous activities continue to deprive us of our hard earned cash? Yesterday we were completely `kippered` by the layers on the second selection to the DD – Chamirey. I know I dont ask you to back the second horse should the first provide the return to enable us to hedge. However the each way element was still very much alive. Two Trainers took their horses out of the race AFTER 12 noon and certainly after most members will have played the bet. Our only recourse of course was to use Betfair but too late for the ew double players via Bet365 or similar.
One of the Trainers certainly likes a tilt and his stable would be described as a `Gambling Yard` in my notes and the other has lost £100k in cash through a robbery already this year. You must form your own opinion here of course but I dont think Dick Francis would have had too much difficulty in writing a decent book surrounding the `plot`.
Also ask yourself whether yours truly would have selected a horse in a 7 runner race where up to 4 could have won it? Of course not and in simple terms we were stuffed as the first reserve for the Double Diamond – the ideally named – Recession Proof duly won after an excellent Costello ride.
I am not moaning by the way – just pointing out what is going on, whilst many of you would be unfortunate enough not to see `live` what is happening. Please be aware to these situations and use Betfair whenever you can as despite many, many letters from me and other members – the Bookmakers will NOT alter their terms to change the stance of just paying the first TWO when rags are taken out of a beautifully framed 8 runner race. Betfairs fair plan to use percentages to reduce payouts, yet still pay out on the first THREE is the only equitable way.

Yesterday was nearly a NO BET day for me but having looked at some of the mathematical bets available I felt a Super Rambo would do the trick as apart from the big acca odds available there was great potential for place laying as well. I knew we were on the right tracks when Ladbrokes limited Lucky 15s and Lucky 31s in their shops. Very rarely happens but shows we are very much on the right lines.
For the record yesterdays `Super Rambo` (10 horses in 38 x 50p ew doubles & 18 x 20p ew Five Folds) returned a profit of £138.66 for the stake of £45.20 and only 1 horse won! As I have said so many times `Its not the winner which matters – it’s the winning bet`.
The Super Rambo followed on from Mondays winning Ali Baba where both selections won at 7/2 to provided yet another 20/1 winning double and another ‘Super Sunday’ where I advised nine selections, five winners at 4/1, 10/11, 7/2, 11/4 & 7/4, three placed at 4/1, 5/2 & 8/1 and just one horse unplaced at odds of 14/1.

Big Mike’s 135 -1 Winning Combination Bet (10/10/2010)
For the record the bet given on Sunday was as follows:
COMBO
6 X £5 ew Doubles, 4 X £3 ew Trebles & £3 ew acca
Luisant 14:45 Curragh 3/1
Celtic Sixpence 15:45 Goodwood 10/3
Nadinska 16:45 Bath 5/2
Youralltalk 17:40 Ffos Las 11/4
All four horses in the combination duly won at the Best Odds Guaranteed Odds of 3/1, 10/3, 5/2 and 11/4 (NR’s Rule 4 deduction applied in the 17.40, reducing the odds on Youralltalk to 5/4).
Nevertheless the total profit to the very affordable stakes advised above was £1346.14 and even after the requisite protective hedges; most members cleared over £1000 with the bet.
Remember days like these WILL happen with combination betting and without doubt I feel we are really on the right road in playing bets this way as it gives you the best of both worlds – BIG wins and hedging opportunities.

So, If playing to 10% of stakes the profit so far would give you sufficient
moolah to have paid six months subs & have a bit besides. I have one
intrepid punter playing to 10 x stakes so I am absolutely delighted for him
as he emailed me on Friday and said that after such a boom time he is now
betting at a maximum of 3% of total bank which although I was surprised in
a way I feel he is making the right `Conservation` tactic and I applaud
that wholeheartedly. Remember if we are travelling up the M1 all the way
- we havent even reached Watford Gap! A long way to go.
Mike
So far – according to my Independent compiler we are £2675 (net) up and £1274 (net) relates to the Double Diamond.
FIGURES as of 11/09/2010 :-
Hughies + 113
Bernie + 467
Rambo + £27
Double Diamond + £1274 (14 horses /10 winners /4 placed /0 unplaced)
Dunlop + £972 (14 horses /6 winners /5 placed /3 unplaced)
Ali Baba -£122 (19 horses /6 winners /9 placed /4 unplaced)
Buzzer -£17
Others -£39
—–
Net +£2675
The good thing I feel about the figures so far this month, is the fact that of the 47 horses given in the 3 main disciplines – (Double Diamond, Dunlop & Ali Baba) 22 have WON and 18 have PLACED with only 7 unplaced. So for those who like singles only, the suggestion of using the Double Diamond only is probably quite sound as the win ratio there is 70% (10:14).
Remember this performance will NOT continue at this level. No way can it do so. Therefore its a very sensible time to take stock and reassess. We must cover for the inevitable dark days ahead when I will not be able to buy a winner.
